POLICIES AND RULES

Tall Pines Horse Show Circuit

Policies

These policies are in place to help the show run more smoothly without undue delay or confusion. Our class sheets must reflect exactly who will be in the ring, and as a courtesy to our competitors, we will make every attempt to find a “missing” competitor based on these lists. We ask that if you pre-register and then cannot come, to please call and let us know. If you are on the grounds and decide to “Drop”, please also let us know.

We appreciate your showing with us, and want this to be a fun and smoothly run experience for everyone.

Thank you for showing with Tall Pines Horse Show Circuit!

1. Hold Harmless Release must be signed at registration by Parent or Legal Guardian (18 years or older).

2. Current Negative Coggins Required prior to registration.

3. Show Office will be open at 7:00 am - end of show.

4. A signed blank check or payment in full will be required to receive your back number. Return checks will be subject to a $30.00 fee. Unpaid balances from previous shows must be paid in full before registering for the next show.

5. Back Numbers: Each horse/rider combination will be issued an individual entry number to be used all year. It is the exhibitors responsibility to maintain this back number and replace if it is lost or stolen (riders will receive 1 back number per horse/rider combination from the show office for the year). Riders showing more than one horse, must BE SURE to wear the correct number. Competitors cannot enter the show ring displaying the incorrect number.

6. Classes will be held if there is one entry. See point system.

7. When is a class closed? When the last competitor (according to our class sheet and “Add/Drop” forms) enters the ring, the gate is closed, and the Gatekeeper radios to the Ring Steward and Announcer, “That is your class”.
8. At the Judge's discretion, during some shows the next class will be allowed in the ring (lining up on the rail) while the previous class is being pinned. The Gatekeeper determines when the class is complete.

9. Holding the Gate: If duly notified, Gatekeeper can hold the gate to wait for competitor to finish a course or complete a tack change. The standard 1 MINUTE GATE CALL, will be in effect if the gatekeeper is not notified. Show Management will work to see that competitors get back to the Flat ring in time, but it is the competitor's responsibility to communicate to Gatekeepers (and they to Announcer) of this need, and allow enough time to complete their course before the Flat class is called into the ring and the gate is closed on that class. Everyone must communicate and work together to keep the show moving forward with no confusion, disappointment or undue delays.

10. Class Cancellation: A class with no entries will be canceled two classes before it is on, i.e., when the gate is closed on class #10, that class is closed and the Announcer will call for class #11 to check in at the gate. At that time, if there are no entries for class #12, it will be announced that class #12 has no entries and will be scratched, and class #13 needs to tack up. At this point, no entries can be made for class #12. Once it is announced that a class will not be held, it will not be held. This is out of courtesy to those competitors who are tacked up and ready, to prevent them from having to wait an undue amount of time for their class to enter the ring.

11. Show management reserves the right to split, add, cancel, or combine classes.

12. Add a Class: Competitors are strongly urged to Add a class at the office, but may Add a class at the gate, (with the Gatekeeper) provided:
    a) the gate has not been closed on that class, and
    b) in the case of an empty class, competitor Adds before the gate closes 2 classes prior.
How to keep track? Take the # of the (empty) class you are interested in, subtract 3, then Add by the time that particular class number is called. Office or Gatekeepers must immediately notify Announcer of Add to any class, to prevent an inadvertent announcement of a class cancellation, and the new entry will be added to all class sheets. Competitors will sign an “Add/Drop” form at the office or gate, then settle up before leaving the show grounds.

13. Drop a Class: Competitors may Drop a class at the office or the gate, strongly urged to do so at the office. This is done by signing an “Add/Drop” form. Take the number of the class you wish to Drop, subtract “2”, and Drop your class before that particular class is called to the ring. (To be safe, subtract “3” and Drop by the time that class lines up with the Ring Steward). No refunds will be given for scratched classes. Credit can be applied to current bill or credit will be given for the next TPHSC Open Show.

14. In case of a tie for division championships:

    a. Flat Divisions: The rider with the best placement in Equitation takes precedence.

    b. Jumping Divisions: The rider with the best placement over fences takes precedence.

15. Classes with a large number of entries may be split at the discretion of the Judge/Show Management.

    a. Points earned in each section will be tallied toward the year-end awards.

    b. An additional Championship class will be added immediately following the classes in that division, and the 1st and 2nd place winners will then ride for Champion and Reserve. This class is held solely to determine the division Champion and Reserve; ribbons will be awarded, but no additional points. There is no charge to ride this additional class.

16. For questions or disputes not addressed in above policies, Management will refer to USEF rulebook. Trainers and

Parents should not approach the Judge at anytime during the show. In all cases, the Judge's decision is final.
